SAILING IN TOGETHERNESS

Both companies, schools and organisations have discovered that a sailing
excursion aboard the «Statsraad Lehmkuhl» enhances togetherness and well being. People get to know each other in at totally new way, and the usual hierarchical barriers are thrown overboard.

No previous experience is required; you get all necessary training on board. You will go watches together with the ship’s permanent crew – everything from a trick at the helm to a turn as lookout and working in the galley. You and your fellow sailors are divided into three watches, and after each four hours watch you have eight hours off.

The experiences are varied, and in addition to the routine watches you will be hauling ropes and climbing the rig. To enter the rig is voluntary, but to many this is the ultimate sailing experience. For others the great moment is to man the helm of this 98 metres long ship under full sail.

The crew is quartered as in the old days – everyone sleeps on the orlop deck in a hammock and a sleeping bag brought along from home.
